The GR 34 hiking trail in La Trinité sur Mer
This is the most popular hike in La Trinité sur Mer, a Sunday afternoon rendezvous. It uses in part the GR34, the hiking trail that follows the entire coast of Brittany for almost 2000 kilometres. In Morbihan, the circuit runs along the entire Rhuys peninsula, the Gulf of Morbihan and the Quiberon peninsula. Between the salt marshes of Kervillen and the port of La Trinité sur Mer, the coastal path, known as th "Customs officers path", winds through the most beautiful views of Quiberon Bay.
Starting on foot from the campsite
The circuit starts at the Town Hall of La Trinité sur Mer, but you can start this walk from the beach outside the campsite. The hiking document can be downloaded at the bottom of the page.
Practical information on the coastal path
- Easy hike, no difference in altitude, sometimes inconvenient passages for a stroller/pushchair.
- Length : around 1 hour and 30 minutes
- Distance : 6 kilometres
1 Join up with sea and go to the right to find the footpath that starts near the anchor. You will see on this part of the route, the port of La Trinité and in the distance the Kérisper bridge which marks the entrance of the Crac'h river, as well as the numerous sailboats which use the channel towards Quiberon Bay.
Walk along several beaches and beautiful early twentieth century villas built in front of the sea in a wooded environment of maritime pine trees. Continue to Kerbihan Point and its old customs guard post (Ty Guard).
This protected natural area of La Trinité sur Mer offers a panoramic view of the whole Quiberon Bay and its islands.
2 Follow the path after the carpark towards Kervillen beach. Opposite you, you will see Carnac and its beaches, as well as the chapel of Saint Michel and the tumulus which dominate the Carnac region. At Camping de la Plage, turn right towards the salt marshes.
3 They are the northernmost salt marshes in France and were put back into service in 2012. A protected natural site, many birds can be observed. After the salt marshes, turn left then right towards the Woods of Le Poulbert. Go through the woods to the main road.
4 Turn right along the bike path back to Rue de Kervourden. Turn right then left again, Rue du Gréal. At the crossroads, turn left and immediately right into Chemin de la Hune which allows you pick up the the coastal path again. Turn left to return to your starting point.
