Are the beaches cleaned ?
A sifting machine is used on all of the beaches once a week from the end of June to the beginning of September.
The sand is sieved, the rubbish collected and evacuated.
If there is a large amount of seaweed on the beach, the company responsible for sifting the beaches is contacted to deal with the situation.
If this is not possible, council workers take part in the clean up. Today, the problem is the evacuation of the seaweed and the financial impact that this problem creates.
Seaweed contributes to the proper functioning of the ecosystem. Regular evacuation of the seaweed therefore has a negative effect on the environment.
