A 4 star campsite for 40 years
From the 50's...
Camping de la Plage was created by the current owners’ family. It was originally a farm and opened a field near the beach to campers for the first time at the beginning of the 1950s.
Campers would come and buy milk and dairy products directly from the farm before a shop and bar were built in 1956 at exactly the same spot as the building today ,overlooking the sea.
The 60's : buildings and plantations
During the 1960s the first brick toilet block was built and the first flower beds were planted but the campsite was still not the size it is today. Some of the buildings had not been renovated like the TV room for example, which used to be a stable.
First campers and the beach
The 70's : crazy-golf, tennis and 4-stars rate
In 1973 the minigolf and first tennis court were built and in 1974 the campsite obtained a 4-star classification and was extended to pretty much the size it is today with a new toilet/shower block.
In 1978 the shop and bar were renovated for the first time and have been extended several times since.
The 80's : le camping et la végétation prennent de l'ampleur
In the 1980s the trees had grown incredibly high and now require regular trimming, which along with the hedges, has become one of most demanding jobs over the winter. The reception was located in a small office near the TV room and the first sports tournaments were organised.
The 90's : heated swimming pool, water slides, jacuzzi, modifications and activities
The new decade began with the construction of a swimming pool and a waterslide and continued with other improvements like a new reception in 1994 at the campsite entrance, a new playground in 1999 as well as a new whirlpool.
It was at this time that the campsite started to develop its range of holiday homes and organised more varied activities and entertainment (night of thrills, treasure hunts…)
The new millenium : first website
In the new millenium, Camping de la Plage entered into the digital world and created its first website which has continued to develop and offer more and more information.
In 2003, new waterslides were installed and over the years the toilet/shower blocks have all been completely renovated.
The holiday home park has continued to develop offering more comfort, equipment and space and within the next few years we will no doubt be installing 3-bedroom chalets to complete our range, whilst maintaining a large number of pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes.
