The Bono river
Walks and hiking along the Bono river
The river Sal, more commonly known as the Bono river, joins the waters of the Auray river before flowing into the Gulf of Morbihan.
Surrounded by a remarkable natural environment, an old fishing village nestles in a cove on the riverbank : Le Bono.
You will be enchanted by the authenticity of the harbor, the old suspension bridge and the village itself.
Le Bono is home to two major nautical events: the Gulf week and the "Route de l'Amitié".
On the quayside, you can admire, an old fishing boat, the Forban, a boat traditionally used by fishermen from Le Bono.
Three magnificent hiking trails, between land and sea, are to be found around this small town of South Brittany.
The harbour and the old bridge, the boat cemetary, Saint Avoye's chapel
It is a hiking circuit of about 5 kilometers, which starts in Le Bono's town center.
A few metres away from the starting point, cross the old suspension bridge, built more than 150 years ago and today classified as a historical monument. Accessible only to pedestrians and cyclists, it offers a magnificent view of the river, the port and the old oyster works.
The circuit then follows the coastal path through forests and moors, on which you will find a local a boat cemetery.
The walk continues to Sainte Avoye, a typical Breton village known for its castle-styled chapel, before returning to Le Bono.
The Tumulus of Kernours
Another walk takes you to the Tumulus of Kernours, a 5000-year-old megalithic monument. The Tumulus, accessible to the general public, is located in a pine forest that overlooks the Bono river.
You then follow the Auray River on a good part of this hiking trail, passing by the manor of Kerdréan. Then return to the village of Le Bono through the countryside.
The didal mill, the chappel at Becquerel
A third path along the Bono River takes you to the pond of Kervillio and its tidal mill, then to the chapel of Notre-Dame de Béquerel, located in a green setting and renowned for its pardon and its Miraculous fountain.
You return to the Bono through the countryside.
