Near Carnac, a mysterious town…
Mystery around the famous alignments of standing stones in Carnac, the most impressive of this period: erected in the Neolithic period, between the fifth and second millennium BC, comprising no less than 4 000 standing stones. This outstanding megalithic site is comprised of menhirs, dolmens and passage tombs spread over four kilometres.
Pays d’Auray
Auray is a small commercial town (large market every Monday), steeped in history with its small harbour, Saint Goustan, boasting timber-framed houses. Standing at the crossroads between the coast (Armor) and the forest (Argoat), Auray is surrounded by truly interesting sites : in Argoat, discover Camors and its forest of a thousand faces and Sainte-Anne d’Auray, a town of traditions and beliefs and a renowned pilgrimage site.
The Gulf of Morbihan, Quiberon, the islands…
Endless sandy beaches, protected in the bay of Quiberon or more exposed on the edge of the ocean, numerous fishing ports and marinas… And plenty of departure points for crossings to the nearby islands. On the coast, Locmariaquer is located at the entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan and is a large megalithic centre. Quiberon peninsula, with its wild coast, offers a taste of what you will see on the islands of Belle-Île, Houat and Hoëdic.
